Live Beyond

Last weekend was crappy.  Like, CRAPPY.  But, I am determined to make this weekend much, much better.  It’s been a good week, a great Friday morning, and I’m READY!  Yesterday was such a beautiful day.  I’m talkin’ sun-shining, 70+ degrees, and spring-like.  GORGEOUS!  After spending all day in class, I took advantage of the last couple of hours of sunlight and sat on my balcony and read.  I finished Grace for the Good Girl (see post HERE) and I started Living Beyond Your Feelings by Joyce Meyer.  Let me just say, I need to learn how to live beyond my feelings.  BAD.

A major reason why last weekend was so stinkin’ ugly is because I have a hard time living beyond my feelings.  A lot of the time, my feelings guide my actions.

Trouble, trouble, trouble.  So life changes are coming my way!

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the few chapters I’ve read so far.

“If we have to wait to see how we feel before we know if we can enjoy the day, then we are giving feelings control over us.”

“I may feel like pouting and feelings sorry for myself all day if I don’t get my way about something, but through Christ I can choose to have a good attitude and trust God to get me whatever He wants me to have at the time.”

“It is amazing what we can learn by simply asking God for an answer and being willing to face any truth He might reveal about us or our behavior.”

I am about sick and tired of letting my emotions guide the way I live.  It doesn’t HAVE to be that way.  This weekend, I am going to choose JOY no matter what my emotions say.  They will catch up eventually.  ;)

I hope you have a great weekend!

Wow. I can really get let my emotions get the best of me sometimes! I will for sure have to check this book out--I didn't even know something like this existed. It's so true though, letting our feelings rule over us is not the way life was meant to be lived!
